the trigger shifter in my 72 standard snapped last weekend. Sad

So, is it difficult to repair?

Would it be wiser to swap it back to a standard shifter?

Thanks!
Nicole

I don't know what's involved in trying to repair it, but the only aftermarket shifter I like is Gene Bergs. Very expensive. Nothing wrong with stock shifters.

What kind of trigger shifter is it? Hurst, EMPI knockoff, SCAT? (pics !)

Depending on what it is, it might be worth fixing.

We went through our Hurst shifter:

The the wire in it is nothing special, could replace it with some fine piano wire (like used in RC planes).

I have a spare stock one if you go that route.

The shifter is an EMPI ...

The wire isn't much, that's true. I just don't know what would be involved in replacing it, and I am not sure why it snapped. Is it because it is an EMPI crappy shifter? Or is there an underlying problem that caused the wire to snap?

I will post a picture tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies!
Nicole

Forgot to snap a picture. Sad

I removed the shifter, and have an idea as to how it is supposed to work ... Now just need to get a wire and see about putting it back together.
