Vw help in Spokane?

I'm on the last leg of a road trip, currently near Missoula Montana and my 1970 Baja Bug is making horrible noises. I think it's the CV but I don't know and don't want to pull it apart in the middle of nowhere with no parts. It's Sunday and there are no aircooledd shops without going a good ways backwards an my friend has a flight back to Germany to catch. I've found two shops in Spokane, Hooks and Chris', and we are trying to make it there to be at a shop when it opens in the morning.

I know it's a long shot, my friend is driving and I'm on my phone, just looking for ideas or help or advice or whatever.
