If we can put four to a room, the hotel will be as cheap as camping. Twenty bucks for dry camping is asking alot. |

You all are assuming they will let you sleep in the lot. That would be great, but when they knock on the window at 1 AM and tell you to move out, then what? I've been there, it sucks. I just like to have things a little more nailed down when traveling to a place like this. If I were traveling across country, no problem. Any open field will do. |

I hear you Corey, this does not seem to be as organized as Yakima, or maybe it is, at 4 times the camping price. These fuckin' cities are so greedy sometimes, makes me pissed off! I really don't care where or what, but I am not leaving all my swap meet parts in a bus, that does not lock up, alone all night. I am not spending $20 to dry camp, I would rather throw the money in the river, than support that. |

Yea, I dont like the thought of leaving my swap-ables left in and on my bus. What if we just get tanked? Would they still ask us to leave? I bet the parkinglot will be so big that we can find a couple spots in the back to hunker down in. We might be overthinking Friday night, shiat, who cares where we sleep, the cruise will be the best part anyways! |

At any event like this I have been too, mostly motorcycle type events, there are tons of motorcycles in the parking lot of the hotel, and people outside drinking at all hours. Why should this be any different, and lets face it, there should be tons of VW's in the parking lot besides yours, I suspect more than one will have people sleeping in them. |

Maybe a call to the hotel or one of the guys in the club is in order? I wonder if the hotel has security for the parking area, many do. That would be good if you were staying in the hotel and were worried about your parts/buses, but bad if you were wanting to crash in your bus for the night.
I will make some calls and post here with any info. |

Remember when Hot Dog Fred's Bus was stolen out of the hotel parking lot in San Jose, security watched the guys push it out and down the street. Security thought they were trying to get it started, all this at 3am.

OK. Just got off the phone with Glenn, the club president and resident show/swap guru. He said if we keep a low profile, nobody will fuck with us in the hotel parking lot. He has friends on the local PD that he will ask to cruise the area, but not mess with people that are cool. He also offered a place to camp at his house as a backup, but it is in Pasco, about 10 minutes away from the show. The hotel is one mile from the show and next door to the Friday night burger joint meeting.
The hotel said they have a few rooms left @$89/night for two queen beds and breakfast, if anyone is interested. It sounds like they are almost full for this weekend, which bodes well for us being able to stake claim to a corner of the parking lot to sleep. The lady said they do not have security, but the maintenance guys will cruise the lot occasionally to check on things. Glenn said this area of town has a very low crime rate, and that most people around there only seem to know that they drive a shiny new car and yours looks like shit, so they are not likely to steal anything from it.
Sounds like we are OK to go, and just crash in the parking lot at the hotel. Are we still leaving from Eric's place @3ish? |
