Good times for sure. Watching combines and grain trucks beat on each other is a new one for me, and a must see.
I have a bunch of photos, I will add some here and there.

Illegal campsite....cost....FREE! Turned out, we had a few visitors from Spokane that saw the VW's and came over to say hi!

EDIT: As I was composing my travelogue, several pics were posted of the event. View the pics, then keep them in mind as you read my narration. They go well together.
Started off with a Saturday morning bike swap at the Swamp. We then grouped up, drove in the rain, some wiper-less, one topless, then hit the sunny Eastern Washington scablands for an hour or so. Many thumbs up, and a few jeers, from passersby. The long snake of VW's stretching out over the undulating highway for a mile. Better looking than a Santa Fe diesel locomotive, I suppose.
Rest stop at Ritzville. Plug up the pumps for a few minutes, then it's time to roll on, for we had a date with our challengers, eighteen miles ahead. A hard right off the four lane and we roll into the bustling metropolis of Lind, forcing an untold amount of rubbernecking, more thumbs up, and a few more jeers. With the clock counting down to high noon, we slowly make our way through the leftovers of a waning parade crowd. At the end of the main drag, a left turn, and a near instant realization that victory would be ours! We, counting 21 total, have trampled the opponent, who counted only eight. To think we only made it with five minutes to spare, and could have lost on that technicality. We were only one or two polka band floats from going home empty handed. The dejected looks on our opponents faces were brought around by a bit of good-natured ribbing, then it was time to eat some BBQ.
Feeling satiated, and thirsty for an adult libation, we made camp. A long walk to the grandstands, a small pile of cash and a hoot and holler later, and we were in the thick of combine crashin', grain truck smashing, pickup racing redneck heaven. Found a seat by the fence, (a more than full house) sat on some prickly goat heads, had a few drinks laced with topsoil, and cheered on the winners and losers. A disproportionate number of Fords were racing in the pickup division, but the black and silver Chevy, #88, put up a helluva fight.
Finally, the last rounds of the Combine demolition came to a close, with Back In Black taking home the big prize for the year, we made the trek back to our campsite. A few more hours, a few little bags of Sunchips and Rold Gold pretzels (thanks Pat) a few more libations, some quality time spent with the merry-go-round, and some drinks with the local Sheriff capped off a very fun evening. (for the record, I was sleeping and did not have the pleasure of meeting the Sheriff, though I understand he was a very nice man)
Upon waking in the AM, we gathered ourselves, brushed our teeth, collected our belongings, told Kaleb about the ladder and the water hose, lifted his bug off a boulder, and headed to Ritzville for breakfast. It was a long wait at a very busy place, and I thought a few times that we were going to lose a couple of our compatriots to sleep and food deprivation. They pulled through once the piles-O-food arrived, thankfully. The table of kids got fed first, which was good thing since they looked like they were getting restless, as kids will do. Once filled up with greasy goodness, we hit the highway once again, only to part ways as members of the posse hit there respective exits. The tailwind was a nice touch to finish off an interesting, and almost surreal Lind experience. Glad I kept a souvenir, since I took no pictures.
Thanks for all who attended and helped put this whole thing together. It was an enjoyable and unforgettable weekend.

Alright here are some pictures from the back of the convoy. If we didn't take up over a mile of highway I would be really surprised!
Cars would be behind me and you could tell they were getting angry of our speed but their face would change once they got beside me and saw all the VW's in front of them.
21 cars has got to be a club record any club!
check em out!
