Mom had a late dental appt so Matt and I made a mad daash for the garage and went to town. I have the 4 inner body bolts left and the green bug has 1 bumper bracket bolt and 1 fender bolt that I'll have to cut off , pan bolts and steering bolts.
evidentally my bug wasn't happy about losing his body and decides to nip at my pinky finger. "bad bug, no"
Matt alson started pulling of his engine tins.
All that in an hour.

Since it snowed today, does this thread still count?? I finally got the RGB transmission back in my bus (probably been out for over 20 yrs) and got most of the front end back together (was hacked off with a torch around the same time). Got my "new to me" cargo doors hung...had to drill out then re-tap where some dill-weed torched off the cargo doors. Been working on the front doors...looks like some welding on the hinge mounts are due to get them to work right. And got all my door glass and frames together. BONUS...Wolfsburg West box arrived this after noon with the parts I need to get the front end back on the ground! Very Happy

Time to bump this thread back to the top.

What's everyones winter projects looking like this year? What's on your to do list for next spring?

I tugged home my first rag top last week and have been doing the general cleaning on it but its going on the back burner for the moment.

Still working on getting my garage in workable order but will be finishing off my 65 bug before anything else.

If I new how to post pics, I would show you my 65 beetle project that needs rust repair on the body. It's sitting about four feet off the ground on sawhorses in my garage, where it has been since last spring after I finished the restoration of the pan. Winter weather brings on garage-bound work motivation.

I looked at two '70 buses today, one of which will likely become another winter project for me. I will transform it into the family camper/runabout/beachgoer/hunting rig. Decisions, decisions.

Yessir mr. Pie! Its a 63, with a pretty hideous blue and grey paint scheme, but at least the original pearl white is hiding underneath all the body panels. Needs half a passenger side pan, a good cleaning, and a little Longroofs drop treatment, but should be a sweet little cruiser for next year.

Since we are on the topics of garages does anyone know with a wood burning stove how high the top of the vent has to be? Does it have to be taller than the peak of the roof?

Kaleb...don't be burning that garage down already!!! If you can find the manufactuer of your stove, look for the PDF directions online, it will tell you the exhaust termination for vertical construction. You might need a build permit to be legal with that stove. I know I needed to get one when I put gas heat in the garage.

Need to put new window seals in the 60 bus and hopefully a new freeway flyer transmission too.

Going to replace the generator in my squareback with an alternator so I can run multiple electronic devices while driving.
