So, I was on my way to work this morning and wound up following a red, possibly 1970 (looked like a combination of years) beetle south on hwy 95 from the Sagle area down toward Garwood in Idaho. Peeking out from around the decklid, which could no longer close all the way, looked to be an interesting engine transplant. I just couldn't tell what it was. The paint is red, old and faded (through to primer primarily on the drivers side), and the rear apron was removed and the fenders trimmed to make way for a HUGE muffler mounted latitudinally beneith the bumper. It looked like quite a bit of additional cutting was probably required to make room for the larger engine (maybe a 2.0 bus / 914 engine????). Looking into the rear window, there looked to be some modifications in the rear as well with a huge flexible tube pointing up torward the roof out of the rear cargo area.

The car was headed south into Hayden/CDA. Anybody know of this bug??? Looks like an awesome project!!!!
