In keeping with bucky/s 1600 rebuild I have a type 1 tranny that I would donate for some sort of club build....Maybe we could all take part in the build in some way or another and then raffle off the tranny at BUG FAIR 2005....Just an idea....Give me some input....

To do a Volkswagen transaxle correctly takes a lot of special tools. The parts are also quite expensive, again, if you are going to do it factory quality.
Manfred is the only person I know with the experience for this.

There are on or two people around who rebuild transaxles. Perhaps you, or even better, the club approched a rebuilder for a workshop on tranny rebuilding. A fee per person might be applicable. Even if we can't ever rebuild our own tranny, At least when we did need a rebuild, We would know enough to get it done right and not get ripped off.
