Hey all,

Jim here, just found the site, I've been out of VW's for about 17 years now, I was stationed in northern cali in the late 80's and was very much into the scene at the time, owned a few Type 1's, then moved to the UK and had a few RHD Type I's and II's (shoulda kept them all!)

Anywho, after being 110% into motorcycle racing for years and years, I've decided to get back into VW's and recently picked up a rough (but straight) 63 Bug.

I'm getting it road worthy, replacing brakes, fuel lines etc etc and discoverd that the Shift Rod Bushing bracket in the tunnel is wasted. I'm looking for someone that can weld in a new bracket for me.

I coiuld probably do it, but it would look like total shite!

If anyone can tackle this, or if you know of someone, please let me know ASAP!

No pics yet, it's in the garage on stands and I'm about to head for seattle, maybe when I get back I'll post.

I did road racing with WMRRA and instructed with NESBA, last bike was a long in the tooth RC51, had a few ducs etc.

Welp, I got the rat running, been driving it since Saturday night.

the old 40hp has a slight knock but it runs smooth, I'll just baby it along until I get a new engine for it.

BTW, did you all know that Chain Steering wheels are illegal? Niether did I, time to find a good'un.

heh, I remember having one of those on a 73 Ghia I had in Cali!

Between you and Troy, whichever is cheaper, sign me up!

Long term, I'm going to put in a Banjo steering wheel, always liked the look of them.
