Your VW is designed to run at 3200-3600 RPM for extended periods of time. That is how they were engineered. They are not like a modern car that cruises at 2500 RPM at 70 MPH.
I like to drive my bus at @ 60-63 MPH. That seems to be it's happy place. |

If we travel at 50 MPH I think it will be ok, but it will be a long ride. _________________ '62 Turbo Drag Bug

What engine/tranny/tire size are you running that you can only go 50MPH? |

Engine Size.....2007cc
Trans.....4.37 R&P stock 3rd & 4th
Rear Tires.....205/40-17
I'm not exactly sure on the speed, but my engine screams if I try to keep up with traffic.
I'll try again this weekend with my GPS so I can see how fast I'm actually going. _________________ '62 Turbo Drag Bug

Do you have a tach? Maybe what is perceived as screaming is just a loud exhaust and 3000 RPM. It would be a bummer to have that big engine and only be able to drive 50 down the highway. |

Yes, I have a tach and it is loud in my car. The straight cut gears, 48 IDA's and Phat Boy exhaust probably make it sound worse than it is. _________________ '62 Turbo Drag Bug

I have decided to drive the Bug to Yakima...does anyone have an idea of what time the caravan will be leaving Spokane? Also, what route will be taken? Thanks...Dale _________________ '62 Turbo Drag Bug

Not sure of departure time or route yet. One of the crew will let you know when we know. |

How about a 10am takeoff from the top of sunset hill, the Medical Lake exit with the truck stop? I would have to look up the exit number, but how does that sound? |

Sounds great to me. Supposed to be much cooler this year, so we likely won't see 100 degree temps at the Lucky Leprechaun in Othello this time. |
