I have a 74 beetle that I had the 1600 rebuilt a couple years ago by a shop here in town. It never seemed to run right. Last year I put a new intake and a 2 barrel webber carb on it hoping that would help but it didn't. It acts like a vacuum leak but can't find one. When you accelerate it falls on its face. I took it to a different shop here in town and after 2 months they couldn't get it any better than I did. I'm looking for someone to help me get it running right. Any recommendations on a shop here in Spokane or even a vw guy out of his backyard. Thanks.

The Webber 2 bbl is harder to get running right, than the stock carb ,not impossable but takes alot of trail and error and the right intake manifold. What dizzy are you running? the 009 ,or the one w/out vacuum advance, does not play very well with smaller carbs, especialy the stock 34 pict that comes on the1600 .When your carb and dizzy aren't working together ,you can get a terrable flat spot off idle .Also check the basics ,timeing, valve ajustment, dwell etc.
