I am about to start again on my sea blue 65 beetle. I am contemplating whether to replace the rear bumper brackets, as they are in rough shape. But I have many more issues to deal with on this car than to worry about bumper mounts. By the time I finish the rest of the rust repair, I may just look the other way when thinking about bumper mounts. |

yea, the mounts will be a bit more of a pain than I first expected, but it will be worth it.
I remember seeing yours Corey (5 feet up in the air) and with the rust repair your tackling Id probably be drinking more , that looked rough! |

My 65 will have more time into than it is worth, but it is teaching me how to do rust repair/welding so that when I tackle a bus, I won't be a virgin. |

I got a little free time this weekend to do some work on the bus. Finished the front brakes, pulled the engine back out to install new heads. Found #3 piston had been burned from detonation/heat on bottom side. Weird, because this engine had great compression and ran great (after I tapped #3 spark plug and installed heli-coil). So....apart she comes. I'm hoping this will be an easy rebuild with little to no machine work needed. Just going to go stock with this engine, I want to drive it this spring!!!!

I like the marblege Dano!
Picked up a new bottle of gas for the welder, ran out making shelfs in my garage out of bed frame rails (angle iron costs too much, why not recycle?). They messed up and sent me home with a copy of a reciept that they needed for their files, said if I was able to return the reciept before 5pm my next fill would be free.... SHWINGGG!!!! Should get those brackets fitted and welded soon. |

after spending a lot of time studying wiring diagrams I decided to rewire my bug. Have the wire laid out and started to hook things back up.
hopefully I have it done in another day or 2 then I can drive it again. _________________ hakunamatata |

Tackling a huge wiring project sounds like a pain, but what you will learn from it will save you $$$ down the road, plus it will get you off the side of the road! |

That is so true hub. I rerouted the wires to the rear through the baggage compartment and along the right side of the tunnel. No wires running along th outside of the car. I have tio keep switching from stock diagram to the chrico one. But, it's coming together nicely. the BIG plus for me is I won't have a rats nest under mt trunk lid. _________________ hakunamatata |
