When doing the valve adjustment. do i need to have the oil drained from the motor? im sure its a stupid ? but would like to know before i find out the hard way. thank you for your help......

No stupid questions if you don't know...right? Better to ask than screw something up! To answer your question, no, you don't need to drain the oil. But....valve adjustments MUST be done on a cold engine...as in left sitting overnight. Park it the night before where you want to work on it, so you don't need to move it. (Simple I know...but something that is often overlooked). Then, get John Muir's VW Idiot manual....and get to work!!! Very Happy
