Just finished tearing out the guts of a in-dash clock and installed a AA battery clock. Here is how I did it.
1. Go to the Woodcraft store on Sullivan 892-9663 and see if they have the clocks. They are a hot item I guess because they never had them. I ordered a 5/8 and a 3/4 for a total of $7 and it took three weeks to arrive. This is the hardest part of the project.
When you buy the clock they give you a set of hands free. I just eyed balled the size I needed.
the originals are at the top for comparison.
2. Tear out the guts of the in-dash clock. Pull off the chrome bezel and plastic lens.
3. Cut new hands to size. I used a pair of scissors out of the junk drawer in the kitchen. The hands are really lightweight aluminum.
4. Enlarge the hole in the back of the clock to accept the new shaft. I used the 3/4 but depending on your clock you might be able to use the 5/8. 5/8 was really close but not close enough.
5. Test fit new clock in back and when satisfied epoxy it in. I used SEM brand because it dries solid in 5 to 7 minutes. You can get it at KC paints on Sprague.

6. Put on hands, reinstall plastic lens with a little glue to keep it in place. Install chrome bezel, re-bend tabs and put a AA battery in and set the correct time and you are done.
Can you tell which one is the re-built? The correct time is 9:25
Easy, fun and a quick project. Now I have a clock that keeps the correct time. The battery will last around 18 months.
Good luck!
