Looking for 70-72 deck lid for vents. Condition of the rest of the deck lid is not important, I just need straight vents.

68 doesn't have vents in it, 71-2 has the same style and size vents as a 58-67 convertible lid. Prior to 71 the only beetles to get vented lids were convertibles. Jim is trying to cool his monster motor with some extra air, a must on pre 67 cars (factory window vents aren't enough for even a 1600cc with dual carbs). A nice factory 58-64 convertible lid is spendy, using 71-2 vents in a sedan lid is less expensive route, if you can weld and do bodywork yourself

Didn't say it was a 68 deck, just that it was on my 68 bug. Check the link for some pics of it.

Oh no...no hard feelings or misunderstandings on my part! I wasn't too clear in my first post, so I thought I'd clarify with a pic, just in case Very Happy

I just picked up a '68 lid (no vents) for my bug, and this one is just sitting around now.
